I paint portraits in oil on canvas. What I look for in them is silence, and the tension you can see in someone's eyes before they say anything.

The figures in my paintings sit somewhere between reality and imagination, and each of them has a history of her own. That is where The Quiet Girls came from, portraits about fragility and childhood melancholy.
